Pastor impregnates 15-year-old during ‘deliverance’, jailed 18 years
A man, Ajayi Famakinwa, was sentenced to 18 years in prison by an Ondo State High Court in Akure, the state capital, for impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
Pastor Famakinwa, age 60, was apprehended by police for committing the offence in 2021 in Ayede Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area, Nigeria.

The victim was reportedly the daughter of his tenant.
Under the pretence of delivering the victim from a tormenting demon, the convict had carnal knowledge of the victim.
According to the prosecution, he committed the offence on Ayetoro Street in Ayede Ogbese on April 13, 2021.
The offence allegedly violates Section 31(1) of the Child Rights Law, Ondo State Laws, 2012.
However, the defendant pled not guilty to the charges.
After hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence, Justice Yemi Fasanmi found Famakinwa guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

The judge condemned the offender for impregnating the victim and making her a single mother.
He stated, “The defendant’s conduct, his admission of the crime to the Divisional Police Officer at Ayede Ogbese on October 17, 2021, in his voluntary confessional statement to be responsible for the pregnancy, and other evidence of the prosecution were sufficient evidence that the defendant committed the offence.”
The court determined that the defendant’s testimony in open court and denial of responsibility for the pregnancy were an afterthought.
“In light of the foregoing and in strict accordance with the provisions of the law, I have no choice but to sentence the defendant as such, and I so hold.
The judge ruled, “Although the defendant appeared contrite in court, he is found guilty as charged and sentenced to 18 years in prison.”
