In a statement released on Thursday by the service’s spokesman, Peter Afunanya, the DSS urged citizens to adhere to the protocols established for the nationwide events.

The statement read in part, “It is to be recalled that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council held a World Press Conference on May 18, 2023, during which he announced inauguration activities. The most important event is the inauguration of the President on May 29, 2023, in Abuja. In the majority of states, new governors will be inaugurated on the same day.

He added, “They are also urged to avoid fake , false alarms, skewed reporting/narratives, and sensationalism that could likely incite division, tension, and violence before and after the exercises. This is due to the fact that these deplorable actions serve no purpose other than to undermine national unity and cohesion.
