Why I sacked Auxiliary as PMS boss, Makinde breaks silence

In response to the conflict of interest between the former chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Park Management System in Oyo state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, aka Auxiliary, and Governor Seyi Makinde, the governor has broken his silence on why he fired the PMS boss, stating that a state cannot have two governments.

This revelation was made by the governor on Sunday, during a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Aremo, Ibadan, to commemorate his Omituntun 2.0.

Last Tuesday, Makinde, through his former Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi, announced the dissolution of the PMS led by the former NURTW leader.

On the other hand, Oyo Police Command declared Auxillary wanted in connection with cases of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm, arms dealing, murder, armed robbery within Oyo state, and kidnapping along the Oke-ogun and Ibarapa axes of the State.

The governor stated that he wielded the big stick by disbanding PMS, claiming that no meaningful activity can occur in an environment of insecurity.

During his remarks at the Thanksgiving service, Makinde assured the congregation that the government would implement all necessary PMS reforms to ensure the arrest of those sowing discord.

Before the last election, it wasn’t as if there were no thugs, but we called them and told them what kind of new Oyo State we desire. We don’t want them to fight amongst themselves, and we don’t want fights to constantly erupt from our garages.”

“We warned them not to fight anyone. If we are re-elected, we will work to unite you so that everyone gets what is rightfully theirs and the people and government can operate in peace.”

“However, one of them stated that he cannot work with others. Therefore, I stated that two governments cannot operate in the state; there will be only one.

All of the governor’s accomplishments in his first term, he said, were due to God’s grace.

He noted that the most important aspect of Omituntun 2.0 is the improvement of the people’s conditions, stating that the government must do everything possible to ensure the upgrade is seamless and create an environment conducive to compliance.
