Trinity Guy and mictim’s  parents sent to prison. 

Following a Magistrate Court order in Iyaganku, Ibadan, remanding popular prankster and skit creator Maruf Abdullahi, also known as Trinity Guy, to prison over claims that he sexualized a minor in a viral skit video, Nigerians have voiced their disagreement with the Court’s decision.

Trinity Guy Arrested

The minor’s parents, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29, along with the skit creator were ordered to be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan until July 11, when the case would come up for mention.

A two-count charge of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation resulted in the defendants’ remand.

 

Nigerians, however, have reacted to the magistrate’s order in different ways. They have used social media to share their varied perspectives on the situation.

The judgement was praised by some, who noted that the skit maker’s pranks are always outrageous and dangerous, while it was criticised by others, who noted that the young man is only trying to support himself.

A Twitter user named @temitayor_ expressed support for the development by writing, “That video was awful. I was unable to even watch it. He deserves everything he receives.

“Very wise choice. All legal means should be used to prevent any immoral or unethical skits, according to @Gboladeogundel.

“The eye of the law cannot be everywhere, but when it makes one OLORIKUNKUN a scapegoat, the other OLORIKUNKUNS will sit tight,” tweeted another user, @MawutinDeji. Instead of pulling these ridiculous pranks, these guys ought to sit down, use their brains, and write funny content for us to enjoy.

Following the Police Force Public Relations Officer’s call for his arrest due to a risky prank, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the embattled skitmaker has been trending online.
