Simon Ekpa, recognized as the ‘Prime Minister of the Biafra government in exile,’ has delivered a stern caution to oil companies operating in the Southeast region, urging them not to overlook the Monday sit-at-home order.
Ekpa has emphasized that the sit-at-home directive has not been revoked and dismissed reports suggesting otherwise.
In a video message shared on his social media platform, Ekpa expressed his concern about the misinformation being circulated.
He emphasized that oil companies should disregard any false claims that the sit-at-home order has been canceled and should not resume operations based on such information.

He further warned that any oil company heeding these misleading claims and resuming activities would face grave consequences.
The ‘Prime Minister’ highlighted that the sole authority recognized by the Biafran people to make decisions concerning the sit-at-home order is the Biafran government in exile, to which he claims leadership.
He stated that the order would persist until their demands are met.
“The sit-at-home order will not be called off until our demands are met,” Ekpa asserted. These demands include the release of Nnamdi Kanu, a prominent figure advocating for Biafran autonomy, along with other conditions related to the autonomy of Biafran territories.

Addressing the oil companies, Ekpa stated, “The only government that is operational, functional, and legitimate, and to which the Biafran people are loyal, is the Biafran government in exile, of which I am the prime minister.”
He underlined that their demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s release and the conditions outlined in their letter to the companies must be addressed before the sit-at-home order is called off.
Furthermore, Ekpa declared a specific directive for oil-producing companies, urging them to halt production every Monday and adhere to the sit-at-home order.

He warned that any defiance would provoke the Biafran people and lead to disruptions in their operations. He stated, “You may have the contract and agreement with the Nigerian government, and that is still under review.”
