Abuja – The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) head office in Abuja witnessed a shutdown today as workers vehemently rejected the recent appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Post Master General of NIPOST by President Bola Tinubu.

This development came in the wake of President Tinubu’s spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, announcing changes in the leadership of various communication agencies, including NIPOST.

However, shortly after the announcement, reports emerged claiming that the previously sacked Post Master-General, Adeyemi Adepoju, had been reinstated. In a viral video that circulated, Adepoju was seen addressing some workers who asserted that Tinubu had reappointed him.

On Monday morning, NIPOST workers took collective action by shutting down the service’s head office in the nation’s capital, protesting Odeyemi’s appointment. They argued that her appointment did not align with their preferences.

The workers, who expressed a strong preference for Adepoju, assembled at the entrance, effectively denying entry to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO. Chants of solidarity and placards bearing their concerns filled the scene, reflecting the intensity of their disapproval.

This development indicates a state of discontent among NIPOST employees, emphasizing the need for resolution and clarity in the leadership transitions within the organization. The situation raises questions about the decision-making processes and communication within the leadership of NIPOST and the broader implications of these changes on the agency’s operations
