In a recently surfaced viral video, citizens of Niger Republic were seen vociferously cursing Nigerian President Bol Tinubu, referring to him as “EBOLA disease” and labeling him as the “illegitimate President of Nigeria.” The video, obtained by Ejes Gist News Nigeria, showcases the anger and frustration of the Nigeriens towards the Nigerian leader.
The hostility towards Bola Tinubu stems from his role as the head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which led to the announcement of a one-week ultimatum for coup plotters in Niger to relinquish power to the democratically elected government.

The situation in Niger has been tense since July 26, when General Abdourahmane Tchiani, also known as Omar Tchiani, declared himself the country’s leader following the coup. President Mohamed Bazoum, the legitimately elected leader, has been held captive by the military ever since.
