Irish Chef Alan Fisher Achieves Guinness World Records in Culinary Marathon

In an astonishing display of culinary stamina, Irish chef Alan Fisher, based in Japan, has shattered two Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The Guinness World Records (GWR) announced this feat on Tuesday through their official website.

Fisher’s culinary marathon lasted an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 93 hours and 11 minutes held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci earlier this year.

Not content with just one record, Fisher also claimed the title for the longest baking marathon, an astounding 47 hours and 21 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 31 hours and 16 minutes.

Remarkably, Fisher took on both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours continuously in the kitchen.

These incredible achievements took place at Fisher’s restaurant, Kyojin Stewhouse, where he specializes in serving traditional Irish dishes.

The Irish chef took on this Herculean task as a means to recover from the hardships brought about by the pandemic, which had nearly led to the closure of his business.

In order to set these records, Fisher prepared an impressive 550 kilograms of food, crafting a total of 3,360 portions from 32 distinct Irish recipes.

Through the exhausting hours, Fisher drew strength from the unwavering support of his local community, even as fatigue and hallucinations threatened to take their toll.

Reflecting on his record-breaking feat, Fisher stated, “I was representing myself, my family, and Irish food, and sharing our story. I couldn’t give up.
