NYSC to Implement Healthy Living Initiative Across Anambra State.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is poised to extend the Healthy Living Initiative championed by Mrs Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, to all 179 communities within the state.
This announcement was made by Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra, during a symposium on Healthy Living Advocacy organized by the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) youths.
Represented by Mr Emeka Ugwu, Assistant Director, Information, NYSC, Anambra State, Mrs Iruma expressed the significance of the Healthy Living project, highlighting its alignment with the NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers.

She stressed the need for the NYSC to adopt and replicate this initiative across all communities in the state.
“The scheme has ample Corps doctors, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, and other paramedics to carry out the assignment,” affirmed Mr. Ugwu.

The comprehensive coverage of the initiative includes free sensitization campaigns, medical checkups, counseling, diagnosis, referral, and prescription. Mrs Iruma underscored the requirement for communities seeking NYSC’s medical outreach to provide the necessary drugs for the event.
The core components of the Healthy Living pet project encompass nutrition, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, relaxation, exercise, walk, health education, routine medical checkups, and community-shared values.

Mrs Iruma urged ASATU youths to raise awareness in their communities about the collaboration between NYSC and the First Lady of Anambra State. She encouraged them to extend invitations to NYSC, facilitating assistance to rural dwellers in adopting a healthier lifestyle.
