Tinubu sacks FAAN, NAMA, other MDs, announces replacements (Full List)

President Bola Tinubu has initiated a major shake-up in the aviation sector, approving the suspension, removal, and replacement of several Chief Executive Officers under the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. The move is aimed at repositioning the sector in alignment with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The affected CEOs include Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the former Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who has been replaced by Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku. Similarly, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, has been succeeded by Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk.

Engr Akinola Olateru, the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has been replaced by Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), has been succeeded by Prof. Charles Anosike.

The restructuring also extends to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), where Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo has been replaced by Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector. Additionally, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, has been suspended to allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct an investigation. Capt. Chris Najomo assumes the role of Acting Director-General of NCAA.

President Tinubu has also given the green light for the diligent process to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).

The President emphasized the importance of the new leadership prioritizing the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people. He called for the immediate establishment of world-class policy design, implementation, and regulatory frameworks to elevate the sector and avoid the high cost of underperformance.

All directives from President Tinubu regarding the leadership changes in the aviation sector take immediate effect.
