Ajulo, in a suit filed with the Federal High Court, Abuja (No.: FHC/ABJ/CS/1718/2023), seeks to prevent Governor Fubara from re-presenting the budget to the state House of Assembly until a pending suit is heard and determined.

The crux of Ajulo’s argument revolves around the need to restrain the state House Assembly and its Speaker from screening and confirming commissioners appointed by Governor Fubara.

The lawyer asserts that such actions should be put on hold pending the resolution of the legal matters before the Federal High Court.

Additionally, Ajulo urges the court to consider a motion on notice attached to the suit, calling for a halt to plenary sessions by 27 out of the 32 members of the State House of Assembly. This move seeks to address the complex dynamics within the legislative body.

This legal development comes against the backdrop of a political crisis in Rivers State, where Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have recently agreed to reconcile their differences.

The resolution, facilitated by President Tinubu and other stakeholders, stipulates that Governor Fubara must re-present the 2024 budget to the returning members of the State House Assembly.

  1. Gov Fubara played into the hands of his enemies. How can you accept commissioners who resigned from your government as commissioners again? Fubara is sitting on a keg of gun powder. This is the only saving grace Fubara. God help him to complete his tenure in Jesus mighty name Amen
