This year’s Lagos Marathon, the 9th edition of the event, saw participation from Kenyan runners thriving on the course. Interestingly, Sang himself participated in the 2023 edition, finishing in third place. This year’s victory marks a significant personal accomplishment for him.

On the women’s side, 25-year-old Kebene Chala of Ethiopia crossed the finish line first, mirroring Sang’s achievement and receiving the same $50,000 prize. Both men’s and women’s champions achieved the coveted qualification for the marathon event at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Nigerian pride shone through Shehu Muazu, the first Nigerian to cross the finish line, earning a well-deserved N1 million cash prize. The Lagos Marathon 2024, starting at the National Stadium in Surulere and culminating at the Eko Atlantic City in Victoria Island, once again proved to be a thrilling event celebrating athletic excellence and international camaraderie.
