In a statement released over the weekend, the PDP Governors’ Forum emphasized that if the current administration cannot effectively mobilize Nigerians and all levels of government for sustainable solutions to the nation’s myriad problems, it should gracefully step down.

The PDP Governors underscored that the pervasive hardship and suffering faced by Nigerians transcend tribal, religious, or party affiliations, emphasizing that “a hungry man is an angry man.

As stakeholders in governance, the PDP Governors pledged to continue collaborative efforts with the President in addressing the challenging situation exacerbated by the APC since 2015. The governors expressed dissatisfaction with the criticisms leveled by the Minister of Information, APC Governors’ Forum, and other officials from the APC-led Federal Government against their suggestions and interventions.

The statement emphasized the imperative for the APC-led government to remember that it assumed power to solve Nigeria’s problems rather than exacerbate them or deflect blame. The PDP Governors urged their counterparts to focus on effective governance, eschewing grandstanding and propaganda.

While acknowledging the federal structure of Nigeria, the PDP Governors stressed the crucial role of the APC-led Federal Government in mobilizing all tiers of government for sustainable solutions. They maintained that if the government proves incapable of fulfilling this role, it should gracefully step down.

The governors also defended PDP-governed states, asserting that they have been at the forefront of positive developmental policies, regular payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities, and the implementation of the minimum wage.

The PDP Governors restated their commitment to co-operative federalism and expressed hope that the President’s efforts would lead Nigeria out of its current challenges.

The governors praised the President for convening a special meeting to address some of these concerns.
