Trader Arraigned for Alleged Scissor Stabbing in Lagos

In an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, a 23-year-old trader, Abdul Samad, was arraigned on Monday for allegedly stabbing another man with a pair of scissors on his waist.

The defendant, residing in Ogba, faced charges of causing a breach of peace and assault. The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo, informed the court that the incident occurred on January 9, 2024, in the Sakamori area of Ogba, Lagos.

The altercation between the defendant and the complainant, Mr Samsudeen Jolaosho, reportedly stemmed from a dispute over money. During the confrontation, the defendant allegedly stabbed the complainant with scissors on his waist, causing severe bleeding. Passersby rushed the injured party to the hospital.

The charges against the defendant contravene Sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The accused, Abdul Samad, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Mrs M. O. Popoola granted the defendant bail set at N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case is adjourned until March 20 for mention.
