Edo State PDP Chairman Abducted by Gunmen in Brazen Nighttime Attack.

 

The chairman of the Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tony Aziegbemi, has been abducted by gunmen in a daring incident along Idaro Street, off Country Home Road, Benin, Edo State.

Reports indicate that Aziegbemi was forcibly taken around 11 pm on Friday night, shortly after leaving a meeting at the Government House and heading home in his vehicle. The abduction occurred in the presence of his driver, who described the harrowing ordeal.

 

According to the driver’s account, they noticed a suspicious car tailing them, prompting them to take an alternate route. However, the assailants intercepted them at a speed breaker, effectively blocking their path.

Brandishing firearms, the gunmen ordered Aziegbemi to enter their vehicle, subsequently driving off with him in his own jeep.

 

The abductors abandoned Aziegbemi’s vehicle along Sapele Road before making off with him in their own cars. The brazen nature of the kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting swift responses from government officials and security agencies.

 

As investigations unfold, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, indicating that the case falls under the jurisdiction of the New Etete Police Division. Despite the challenges posed by the situation, law enforcement authorities have been mobilized to pursue the perpetrators and secure Aziegbemi’s safe release.
