The Katsina Police Command has announced that the 28 girls abducted at Kasai village in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state have been freed.

It is worth noting that these girls were kidnapped by bandits on the outskirts of the village on Monday while they were gathering firewood.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state police spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, reported that the girls were released around 10:40 pm on the same day of their abduction.

Aliyu mentioned that the State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, promptly dispatched operatives to the location, assigning them the task of rescuing the victims unharmed.

Furthermore, the police spokesperson emphasized the command’s dedication to ensuring the security of both the community and the state at large.

The statement details: “On 1 April 2024, at approximately 10:30 am, about twenty-eight (28) girls who had ventured to the outskirts of Kasai village, Batsari LGA, Katsina State, to collect firewood, were abducted by kidnappers.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police for the Katsina State Police Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, psc+, immediately deployed operatives to the scene, with the mission of rescuing the victims unharmed.

Thanks to the relentless efforts and intensified pressure from the command, the victims, who were detained against their will, have now been safely returned and are in good health.

The successful release of all the abducted victims was the result of the combined efforts of the dedicated rescue team and the strategic measures implemented by the command.
