Former Special Adviser on Media to the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, has made startling revelations about Wike’s political ambitions and his alleged plans for a de facto third term in office.
In a recent disclosure, Inko-Tariah claimed that Wike aimed to extend his influence through his successor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to reporters in Port-Harcourt, Inko-Tariah asserted that Wike had envisioned maintaining control over state affairs by orchestrating a continuation of his governance style through Fubara’s administration.
In his statement, Inko-Tariah said, “The former governor had hoped to effectively secure a third term in office through his successor, Fubara.

However, Fubara, having witnessed the challenges faced by the people of Rivers State during the previous administration, has taken a different approach, steering us away from despair and frustration.
Highlighting Fubara’s close association with Wike during his tenure as Director of Finance and Administration, Inko-Tariah suggested that Fubara might have been influenced by Wike’s governance style. He hinted at potential discrepancies in Fubara’s actions, attributing them to his prior collaboration with Wike.
Furthermore, Inko-Tariah praised Fubara’s performance since assuming office, citing initiatives such as the approval of civil service employment, promotions, and salary increases for local government workers.
He commended Fubara’s people-centric policies, including the approval of a Christmas bonus of N100,000 for civil servants in December.
Inko-Tariah concluded by emphasizing the organic support garnered by Fubara’s administration, attributing it to his policies and leadership style, which resonated positively with the populace.
