In a shocking turn of events, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Roni Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Saleh Idris, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on allegations of having carnal knowledge of his house help
CSC Adamu Shehu, the spokesperson for the Jigawa State Command of the NSCDC, officially confirmed the arrest in a statement provided to Ejes Gist News. The incident came to public attention following a complaint made by the victim’s brother. He reported that his 14-year-old sister, who worked as a house-help at Idris’s residence, had been subjected to abuse.
The victim’s brother further explained that the case had been reported to the NSCDC Roni LGA Division after unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter at the Hisba office, particularly concerning the responsibility for the pregnancy. Instead of acknowledging responsibility, Idris had allegedly pressured the victim’s family to make her undergo an abortion.

The victim’s horrifying ordeal began when Idris offered her a drink while his wife was away, causing her to lose consciousness. Taking advantage of the situation, he subjected her to a traumatic assault. He then issued a menacing threat to the victim, warning her not to reveal the incident, with the threat of losing her monthly allowances hanging over her. This pattern of abuse continued, ultimately leading to the victim’s pregnancy.
CSC Adamu, in the course of the interrogation, reported that the suspect vehemently denied the allegations, and as a result, the case has been escalated to the court. It’s worth emphasizing that this incident is a clear violation of section 3 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act of Jigawa State, with corresponding penalties specified under the same Act.
