Nollywood Icon Mr Ibu Appeals for Support Amidst Health Struggles
John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, a celebrated figure in Nollywood, has reached out to Nigerians for help as he faces the possibility of amputation due to his health condition.
Mr Ibu, who shared his health ordeal on Instagram, disclosed that he has been hospitalized for weeks and pleaded for prayers and assistance during this challenging time.

In his emotional plea, the actor revealed the grim possibility of leg amputation, as suggested by a medical professional. He implored, “I am still lying down in the hospital; the medical doctor of the hospital said the best solution if his idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg. Just see me; if they cut off my leg, where will I go to? Where do I go from here?”
Desperate for support, he continued, “Please, please bring on the prayers for me, talk to God almighty. I don’t want my leg to be cut off, please. Thank you so much, God, bless you.”
In a video shared alongside the plea, Chioma Okafor, Mr Ibu’s daughter, made an appeal for financial assistance. She revealed that she has been solely responsible for covering the medical bills, which have become increasingly burdensome.
Dear Nigerians, at this point, as a family, we want to appeal that people should come to daddy’s aid and rescue. We took him to the hospital. I’ve been the one sorting out this bill, but I’m drained financially. I can’t do it alone, please. I’m calling for help,” she stated.
Okafor further explained that her father’s health has been fluctuating between periods of deterioration and improvement, only to regress again. Despite receiving care at a prominent private hospital in Lagos, there has been no significant improvement in his condition.
Stella Okafor, the actor’s wife, also urged Nigerians to provide support, emphasizing that Mr Ibu is in constant pain and often in tears.
Mr Ibu celebrated his 62nd birthday while in the hospital on October 17. The iconic actor has left an indelible mark in the world of Nollywood and is now facing a challenging battle for his health and well-being. His plea for assistance has drawn attention from fans and well-wishers as they rally to help the beloved actor during this difficult time
