Is Mr Ibu dead? Nollywood comic, John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu, is dead, Ejes Gist News can authoritatively reports.
The talented actor passed away on Saturday afternoon after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Evercare Hospital in Lekki a few days prior, a close family friend confirmed to Ejes Gist News .
Mr. Ibu, 62, died of cardiac arrest after suffering a relapse about a week ago and being rushed to a Lagos hospital.
Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has also confirmed the actor’s death.
The actor asked for support and prayers from his fans before undergoing surgery to amputate one of his legs last year.
Fans and colleagues of Mr Ibu have since been effusive with tributes in honour of the funnyman. The actor was known for his funny roles in many movies like Issakaba, A fool at 40, amongst others which earned him several nominations and awards.
Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, also referred to as Sisi Quadri, passed away on Friday and was buried on Saturday in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State. Mr. Ibu’s death came after Sisi Quadri’s.
