The suspension was enacted by members of his ward, Ganduje Ward, situated in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State. The decision was officially announced by the ward’s legal adviser, Halliru Gwanzo, during a press briefing in Kano on Monday, April 15.

According to Gwanzo, the decision to suspend Ganduje stems from the gravity of the bribery allegations brought against him by the state government. He emphasized the severity of the accusations, stating, “We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.”

The suspension remains in effect until Ganduje successfully clears his name from the allegations. The move underscores the increasing scrutiny faced by political figures regarding issues of corruption and malfeasance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Abdullahi Ganduje, a prominent figure within the APC, has previously faced allegations of corruption, particularly in connection with videos allegedly showing him receiving bribes. Despite these accusations, Ganduje has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The suspension of Ganduje reflects the internal struggles within the APC and highlights the party’s efforts to address allegations of corruption within its ranks. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against corruption in Nigerian politics, with political parties being pressured to hold their members accountable for unethical conduct.
