The Kano State Government has filed eight corruption charges against former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife, and five others. The charges, totaling billions of naira, include allegations of misappropriation and diversion of funds during Ganduje’s eight-year tenure.

Among the accused are Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.

The charges, outlined in a document dated April 3, 2024, include accusations of corrupt practices such as soliciting and receiving bribes, kickbacks from contractors, and diversion of public funds.
The first charge accuses Ganduje of receiving $200,000 in kickbacks from a contractor, while the second charge alleges he collected $213,000 from entities seeking government contracts.

Other charges involve the conversion of funds earmarked for public projects, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation, and breach of trust.
