Set to Electronically Register Over 40 Million Members Nationwide.

Abuja, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political party, has announced its intention to embark on an extensive electronic registration drive aimed at enrolling over 40 million members nationwide. The announcement was made by the national chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, during a meeting with elected officers and National Executive Committee members at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Dr. Ganduje emphasized that the primary objective of this electronic registration effort is to obtain an accurate and up-to-date count of the party’s membership base. He highlighted the importance of having precise data to better understand the party’s demographics and effectively plan for the future.

“We are reviewing our registration electronically now. The work has already started, so you should be ready that all our members will be electronically registered so that we have an exact number physically,” stated Ganduje.

The national chairman expressed concerns about discrepancies between the party’s reported membership figures and the actual turnout in the 2023 presidential election. He cited an example where the APC had claimed 41 million members, but post-election statistics showed only 8 million votes for the party. This prompted the need for digital registration to ensure the party operates with accurate and reliable data.

Ganduje also revealed that the APC has formulated plans to establish a National Institute of Democratic Studies. The institute’s purpose will be to facilitate programs that enable Nigerians to shape their behavior in alignment with democratic principles and progressive ideas. This initiative is aimed at promoting democratic values and enhancing civic engagement among citizens.
