Bandits unleashed terror in Gidan Bakuso, Sokoto State, early Saturday morning, targeting Tsangaya students in a brazen abduction.

 

Liman Abubakar, the school’s proprietor, revealed to our correspondent that an unspecified number of students were taken, with 15 confirmed missing so far.

“We are still counting,” he said, describing the harrowing ordeal. The assailants stormed the town at 1 am, firing shots indiscriminately and causing panic among residents. Abubakar recounted how the bandits, in their ruthless spree, kidnapped students as they rushed to seek shelter.

 

“As they were leaving the town, they sighted our students rushing into their rooms and they kidnapped many of them. We have so far counted 15 who are missing, and we are still searching for more.”

Kabiru Dauda, the local representative, received a distress call at 2 am and promptly alerted authorities. “I reached out to the local government authorities and security agencies, and I am sure they are doing something about it,” he assured, amid mounting concern over the escalating violence.

 

In another grim incident, bandits struck Turba village in Isa Local Government Area, claiming three lives, including the village head.

Habibu Modachi, the area’s representative, suggested a possible reprisal following recent security operations against bandits. The attacks underscored the precarious security situation in the region. This latest abduction is coming just nearly 48 hours after 287 students were abducted in Kaduna State.
