76 Days to General Elections, Labour Party sacks top official
Labour Party announced that it had fired Abayomi Arabambi who was the National Publicity Secretary for the party on Friday from her position 76 days before the general elections in 2023
According to an article made available to newsmen the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, which was responsible for making the decision, also dissolved the executive committee of the party’s Ogun State chapter.

The executives of the Labour Party Ogun were allegedly involved in activities that were against the party.
Doyin Okupe, who serves as the Director-General (DG) of the presidential campaign council for the party, is not a member of the party, according to Arabambi, who insisted on this point.
According to this newspaper’s recollections, Arabambi was engaged in an ongoing conflict with Okupe, who was a supporter of Peter Obi’s candidacy for the presidency of the Labour Party.

In addition, there has been debate within the party in Ogun State about Okupe’s membership status, which has led to some controversy.
The state chapter had announced on Thursday that Okupe and 10 others had been kicked out of the organisation for allegedly not paying membership fees, acting in a high-handed manner, and being financially irresponsible.
Michael Ashade, the state chairperson of the Party, stated that the individuals in question violated both Article 9(3) sub(iii) and Article 9(3) (xi) of the party’s constitution, and as a result, they are no longer considered to be members of the Labour Party.
On the other hand, the National Secretary of the party, Farouk Ibrahim, stated that Ashade’s proclamation regarding Okupe was invalid and should not be followed.
