Masked gunmen invade Oyo Government Secretariat.
Tension enveloped the Oyo Government Secretariat on Saturday when it was besieged by masked gunmen, sparking fear and chaos in the area.
Reports indicate that armed men strategically positioned themselves at various points within the secretariat premises.

Some guarded the entrance to the Governor’s office gate, while others stationed themselves at the entrance to the House of Assembly Gate, with additional presence at the main entrance.
As of the time of this report, the identity of the masked individuals remains unknown.

In response to the situation, law enforcement personnel and anti-crime agencies swiftly mobilized to the scene, arriving in numerous patrol vans. Members of the Oyo Security Network (Amotekun) also joined in reinforcing security at the gate.
The standoff escalated into a confrontation, with security operatives engaging the agitators in a gun battle. Teargas was reportedly deployed, further escalating tensions and causing panic among residents in the vicinity.

The commotion prompted motorists to alter their routes, seeking alternative paths to avoid the area. Traffic along the Secretariat-Queen Elizabeth Road was disrupted, compelling road users to divert through Customs Junction.
