Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has given his approval for the payment of to all civil servants in the state. This decision was conveyed in a circular dated 05 July 2023, which was obtained by Ejes Gist News Nigeria.

According to the circular, the payment of promotion arrears will be carried out in batches for the various sectors of the Delta State Civil Service. Ministries will receive their arrears in August, followed by Judiciary, Parastatals, and Hospitals Management Board in September. Higher Institutions will receive their arrears in October, while the Public Procurement and Due Process Bureau (PPEB) will receive theirs in November.

“In line with the commitment of His Excellency, the Governor, to the welfare of civil servants in Delta State, the payment of promotion arrears has been approved. The payment will be made in batches to ensure a smooth and systematic process.

In August, the Ministries will receive their promotion arrears. September will be dedicated to the Judiciary, Parastatals, and Hospitals Management Board. Higher Institutions will receive their arrears in October, and November will be for the Post Primary Education Board (PPEB).

RE: PAYMENT OF PROMOTION ARREARS IN THE STATE PUBLIC SERVICE

Further to our circular No: HOS. 100/12/T1/35 dated 15 of March, 2023 in connection with the above mentioned subject, this is to inform you with great pleasure and sense of pride that His Excellency, the Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) has graciously approved the payment of outstanding promotion arrears to staff in the State Public Service.

2. In the light of the aforementioned circular and approval, I am pleased to announce the commencement of the payment from August, 2023 sectorally as outlined below:

3. This approval is meant to provide a positive and uplifting to all workers in the State Public Service. His Excellency understands the impact on the wellbeing and morale of workers that are owed promotion arrears. This payment serves as a testimony to His Excellency’s commitment to the growth and productivity of the Public Service in the State.

4. Let it be also noted that this payment in arrears is a matter of grave importance and requires sufficient attention. As such, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are requested to process subsequent payment for eligible officers within three (3) months of receipt of relevant letters in line with the provisions of circular No. HOS: 100/12/T1/15 of 31st July, 2015.

5. Please note that the payment serves as a clarion call to commitment, cooperation, and support to His Excellency’s vision of a productive and thriving Public Service. Therefore, all members of staff are implored to continue to exhibit the dedication and hardwork which have always been the hallmark of the State Public Service.
