Court Removes Adamawa Lawmaker For Defecting To Another Party
A court has expelled Musa Umar Bororo from the Adamawa State House of Assembly, where he represented the Mubi South Constituency.
The Federal High Court II, which sat in Yola on Monday, ordered the member to immediately vacate his seat for defecting from the party under which he won election to the House.
Bororo left the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in April of last year to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The high court, presided over by Justice Saleh Kogo, ruled that Bororo, who was elected to the House of Assembly under the APC, should not switch to the PDP and should remain in office.
However, Justice Kogo dismissed suits filed against the member representing Mubi North, Hon. Shuaibu Dan Musa, and the member representing Fufure/Gurin, Hon. Shuaibu Babas, who similarly defected from the APC to the PDP at various times.

According to him, the APC failed to prove its case against the two individuals.
In October of last year, the state leadership of the APC had taken three legislators to court for defecting to the PDP, requesting that the Assembly be compelled by law to declare their seats vacant.
