Wike declares war against Ayu, Allies
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has challenged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Dr. Iyorcha Ayu to a fight for the soul of the party following Ayu’s suspension by the leadership of his ward in Benue State.
Wike stated on Monday, during the reopening of the remodelled Community Secondary School in Okoro-nu-Odo, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (LGA), that a person who could not deliver the party in his unit, ward, LGA, or state in the 2023 general elections would not be permitted to lead the party.
He asserted, “Ask those who want to be chairman of this party (PDP) what they have to offer at this time. Presidential election; you accepted bribes and lost in your unit, your ward, your local government, and your state. Which event will you now preside over?
“Those arguing that he has been suspended have not yet witnessed anything. The fight has begun. Ayu, the battle has just begun. Tell him, Iyorchia, if you know him or are close to him, Iyorchia Ayu, the battle has just begun.
“Will you preside over the one (Rivers PDP) for which I have won the election? You wish to assume the governorship of this state so that we will begin to donate to the party. Bring your own state to the party so that it can contribute to the national fund. If you don’t deliver your State, you can’t preside over us. You cannot.
“Consider someone who engaged in anti-party conduct; he is suspending people. The high priest of the anti-party, the native physician of the anti-party, is suspending those who have worked tirelessly for this party. All of you joining Ayu, prepare yourselves. Now I have no other employment. I am currently tasked with increasing the pressure on them, and I will continue to do so.
“If desired, allow the National Secretary to rush to Abuja. Let them meet this afternoon and argue that the suspension is illegal, and you will see the consequences. You refer to us as children; you will see what children can do to you.”
Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, inaugurated the school project and described his Rivers counterpart as a man who loves his people, as evidenced by his consistent delivery of projects across sectors to improve their lives.
Umahi argued that given his host’s massive infrastructural revolution, it would be a farce for any opposition in Rivers State to challenge the ruling PDP.
