The founder of “I Reign Christian Ministry” will be held at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until he meets the conditions of his bail.

Oshodi granted the defendant bail in the amount of N20 million with two sureties in the same amount.

He stated that one of the sureties must be the owner of a Lagos State property with sufficient value to cover the bail amount.

“The original deed must be presented to the chief registrar of Lagos State.”

“The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and have paid taxes to the Lagos State for three years,” he said.

The judge also ordered the defendant to submit his international passport to the court’s chief registrar to accelerate the case’s hearing.

The judge adjourned the trial until May 9.

Previously, the defence attorney, Mr. Olukunle Oyewole, in his bail application dated April 10, urged the court to grant the defendant bail under liberal conditions.

Oyewole argued that the defendant had been on administrative bail with the police since May 20, 2022, and had made himself available to the police.

“The charge against him is a bailable offense, and he has credible sureties who can stand for him,” he explained.

In his counter affidavit dated April 14, the chief prosecutor for the state, Mr. Babjide Boye, urged the court to deny the defendant’s request for bail, but left the decision to the court’s discretion.

Boye, however, argued that the offence was grave and that the likelihood of conviction posed a flight risk for the defendant.

“There is also a chance that the defendant will interfere with prosecution witnesses.

“He is a bishop of so many branches, and if he is granted bail, he may use his position to influence prosecution witnesses because he is a man of authority with the potential to commit the same crime.

“We urge the court to deny bail to the defendant because he has failed to demonstrate exceptional circumstances justifying his release,” the prosecutor argued.

Oluwafeyiropo was previously charged with two counts bordering on rape.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, however.

According to the prosecution, the defendant allegedly committed the crimes on Ikota Villa Estate in Lekki, Lagos, in June of 2020.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offence violated Section 260 (2) of the Lagos State Criminal Codes of 2015.
