Pastor Arrested Over Death Of Four Members Who He Asked To Starve In Order To ‘Meet Jesus’
Makenzie Nthenge, a pastor from Kenya, has been arrested for the deaths of four of his followers, whom he allegedly ordered to starve in order to “meet Jesus.”
On Friday, April 14, the police raided the Shakahola forest near the town of Malindi after receiving reports of “ignorant citizens starving to death under the pretext of meeting Jesus after being brainwashed by a suspect, pastor Makenzie Nthenge of Good News International Church.”

During the raid, four members were discovered dead and eleven were rushed to the hospital. Three of those hospitalised are reportedly in critical condition. According to the report, seven men and four women between the ages of 17 and 49 were hospitalised.
“The pastor is in custody after turning himself in because he knew we were looking for him,” said Charles Kamau, head of criminal investigations for the Malindi sub-county.
The pastor is in custody prior to his scheduled court appearance on April 17th, according to Kamau.

On Saturday, investigators are expected to continue their search in the Shakahola forest following reports of a possible mass grave containing the remains of other followers.
“It is also suspected that there are numerous victims on the suspect’s forest property,” the police report stated.
According to local media, Nthenge was arrested and charged last month after two children starved to death in his parents’ custody. Later, he was released after posting bail of 100,000 Kenyan shillings ($700).
