Why Obi can’t win case against Peoples Gazette – US Professor

Professor Farooq Kperogi, a popular US-Nigerian columnist, has stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, “cannot win a (legal) case against the Peoples Gazette.”

Obi stated on Wednesday that the Peoples Gazette audio recording featuring him and Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Winners Chapel, is a hoax.

The Labour Party candidate stated that his legal team would take the necessary legal action.

On Saturday in his weekly column, Kperogi stated that the former governor of Anambra State was only attempting to save face.

Kperogi stated, “In libel law, the truth is the strongest defence.” Obi cannot win a case against the People’s Gazette due to the authenticity of the tape.

“Using multiple deepfake detection programs, I found no indication that the audio was edited or generated by artificial intelligence.

Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesperson for Obi’s presidential campaign, confirmed the authenticity of the tape and retorted, “Honesty is the best policy” when he was relentlessly bullied by the headless mob of revoltingly social media thugs who call themselves “Obidients.”

Valentine Obienyem, Obi’s personal media aide, confirmed the authenticity of the tape by claiming that “They edited out the Muslim-Muslim ticket that led to the discussion, in which Obi stated that in a society like ours, religious balancing was a necessary consideration and that their recklessness had led Christians to believe it was a religious war.”

This is the most convincing admission to date that the tape is authentic.

The Professor added, “Well, Oyedepo himself has not contested the authenticity of the tape. He merely stated that Obi is one of a number of politicians who routinely seek his blessing and advice and that he is not partisan. Perhaps he is one of the “others” whom Obi will sue. He essentially corroborated the People’s Gazette’s report.

What will Obi say to the court if/when he sues People’s Gazette and others? If he claims that the tape is a forgery and Peoples Gazette insists that it is not, the court will call in IT experts to verify its authenticity.

The outcome will humiliate Obi, irreparably damage his credibility, and signal the end of his fledgling national political career.
