In a significant legal development, the Tribunal has ruled on the petitions filed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the APM (Allied People’s Movement) party, ultimately dismissing their cases on the grounds of lacking merit.

The Presidential election held earlier this year had been a subject of contention, with these prominent figures contesting the results. However, the tribunal’s verdict delivered by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani and the four justices has now put an end to these legal battles at the appeal court.

In their unanimous decision, the tribunal  reviewed the evidence and arguments presented by the petitioners and found them insufficient to substantiate their claims of irregularities and misconduct during the election.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, had alleged electoral malpractices in his petition. Atiku Abubakar, representing the PDP, had raised concerns about the conduct of the election, and the APM party had also sought legal redress regarding the nomination of Kashim Shettima.

However, after a thorough examination of the facts and testimonies presented, the tribunal concluded that none of these cases met the required standard of proof necessary to overturn the results of the Presidential election.
