Paul Pogba Denies Doping Allegations and Plans to Appeal Four-Year Ban
Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, has vehemently denied doping allegations and expressed his intention to appeal a four-year ban imposed on him for a doping violation. Pogba’s suspension was announced by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal of Italy (NADO Italia) after he tested positive for testosterone, a prohibited substance.
The provisional suspension was initiated in September 2023, following the positive test that occurred after Juventus’ match against Udinese on August 20, 2023. Despite not playing in the game, Pogba was present on the bench.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the French midfielder, Paul Pogba conveyed his shock and sadness at the decision, emphasizing that everything he has built in his professional career is now at risk of being taken away. Pogba maintained his innocence, stating that he has never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.
Pogba’s post on Instagram reads:
I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.

When I am free of legal restrictions, the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.
As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for or against.
As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
