: Ex-Imo Deputy Governor passes on

HRM Igwe of Orlu, Eze Dr. Patrick Chinedu Acholonu, traditional ruler of Ishiobiukwu Gedegwum Ancient Palace, has announced the transition to glory of former Imo Deputy Governor Dr. Douglas Acholonu.

Acholonu, the illustrious prince of Orlu Gedegwum, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Eze Acholonu, who announced the death through his Palace Secretary, Dr. Henry Acholonu, characterised the late renowned specialist surgeon as an elder statesman of impeccable and unimpeachable character.

In consultation with the Imo State Government and the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, the Royal family will give the late medical director of St. Catherine’s Hospital, Ikenegbu, Owerri and Brendalin Hospital, Surulere, Lagos before his entry into active politics a proper burial on Friday, July 21, 2023, he said.

 

Meanwhile, the media personality Lucky Udu has explained why the philanthropist and pastor Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere ceased funding the education of the once-popular security guards the Happie Boys.

After they went viral last year, Apostle Chibuzor offered the young men a fully-funded scholarship to continue their education in Cyprus.

 

A few days ago, the young men reported that they had dropped out of school due to lack of sponsorship.

 

Many individuals were left questioning what transpired between them and their benefactor.

Lucky, who claimed to have discussed the issue with the cleric, shed light on the situation.

He wrote: “I just spoke with the OPM pastor, and he told me that when the rose, things became difficult and he was unable to support them; he advised them to return to a Nigerian university, or he sends them to Ghana or Benin Republic to continue their education. The burden became unbearable, but they neither understood nor listened.
