Government Declares Monday, January 8 as Public Holiday to Celebrate Constitution Day.
In an official statement, Minister for Interior Ambrose Dery announced that Monday, January 8, 2024, is designated as a public holiday to commemorate Constitution Day. The decision stems from the recognition of Constitution Day on Sunday, January 7, 2024, which is a Statutory Public Holiday.
Given that Constitution Day coincides with a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has exercised Executive Instrument (E.I.) powers as specified in Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601). As a result, Monday, January 8, 2024, is officially declared an additional public holiday.
The statement emphasizes the importance of observing this day as a public holiday nationwide, acknowledging its significance in celebrating Ghana’s constitutional heritage.
