The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has mandated oil companies to supply 483,000 barrels of crude oil daily to local refineries starting January 2024.

This initiative is part of Nigeria’s strategy to ensure a consistent supply for domestic consumption.

Notably, the Dangote refinery is set to receive the largest share, with a daily allocation of 325,000 barrels.

The NUPRC’s recently published crude supply guidelines reveal that six refineries, including Dangote, are poised to begin operations in 2024, collectively having a refining capacity of 864,500 barrels daily.

The move reflects Nigeria’s commitment to boost local refining capacity, with the Dangote refinery already receiving a substantial amount of crude oil in preparation for its operations in the coming year.

Other refineries, such as those in Warri and Port Harcourt, are also expected to benefit from this crude oil supply arrangement as they commence production in 2024.
