Senator Dino Melaye, a governorship aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi , has responded to Governor Nyesom Wike’s remarks against him.

Melaye issued a statement on Tuesday in response to Wike’s criticism, alleging that the governor’s negative remarks were a result of his refusal to support Wike’s presidential ambitions.

Melaye also suggested that Wike should concentrate on planning his post-governorship future, given that he will be leaving the government house on May 29.

The statement reads in part, “I can comprehend Wike’s suffering. He wanted my support for his misguided aspiration to become the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

However, knowing his avowed credential to be eminently unworthy of the ticket, I deployed my support for His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, a cosmopolitan and cultured statesman who ignored all of Wike’s tantrums during the election period.

“Wike likely confused me with His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. Now that he has touched the tiger’s tail and murdered sleep, he must accept that the discomfort of a bird perched on a rope is his portion.”
