Innoson Group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Cornel Osigwe, has responded to the allegations of certificate forgery against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who presented herself as the top scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Osigwe took to his official Twitter handle, @cornelosigwe, calling for a thorough investigation into the matter and expressing doubt about Ejikeme’s ability to manipulate her result. He emphasized that there is more to the story and urged authorities to allow the less privileged to have a fair chance.

According to Osigwe, Ejikeme was regarded as one of the brightest students in her school. The Principal reportedly confirmed her exceptional academic performance, and her parents were unable to afford the fees for her WAEC and NECO exams. Osigwe questioned the motive behind manipulating her JAMB score, stating that it would not have been advantageous for her. He appealed for compassion towards those less privileged in society.

Ejikeme Joy: UTME ‘best’ Student who got N3m scholarship, manipulated her score – JAMB

Earlier, JAMB had criticized Ejikeme for falsely presenting herself as the top scorer. In a statement released on Sunday, JAMB revealed that Ejikeme had manually inflated her UTME score from 249 to 362 and used this false score to secure a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors. The Anambra State Government was also prepared to honor her before the deception was uncovered.

JAMB condemned the actions of Ejikeme, labeling her case as the most regrettable. They stated that she had fraudulently obtained a scholarship and other accolades by manipulating her UTME result. JAMB announced that Ejikeme would face prosecution, and her original result would be revoked.

It is clear that the allegations against Mmesoma Ejikeme have sparked a significant controversy. While Innoson Group’s Cornel Osigwe calls for a comprehensive investigation and highlights Ejikeme’s background, JAMB maintains its stance on the forgery, indicating that legal actions will be taken against her. The situation emphasizes the importance of ensuring integrity in academic assessments and preventing fraudulent practices that undermine the credibility of educational achievements.
