Kanu Declares Economic Empowerment Day, Vows to Deal with Those Working Against His Release.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a strong warning concerning the sit-at-home exercise in the southeast region of the country.

Currently detained by the Department of State Services (DSS), Kanu warned that anyone or group caught using his name, IPOB, or its armed wing – Eastern Security Network (ESN), to enforce the cancelled sit-at-home and raise funds will face consequences.

In a statement relayed by his special lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu asserted that any fundraising or enforcement of the sit-at-home exercise using his name, IPOB, or ESN without his explicit authorization is considered a crime.

He further emphasized that such actions hinder efforts towards securing his release from DSS custody.

Kanu, who had earlier declared the replacement of the Monday sit-at-home with an Economic Empowerment Day (EED), revealed that comprehensive details of the program would be unveiled once he regains his freedom.

“The idea of endless Sit-At-Home has been hijacked by our oppressors as a means of rendering our land desolate and forcing our people to migrate out of our lands,” Kanu stated, expressing concern over the sit-at-home measures being used to exclude Igbos in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Rivers, Edo, Delta, and Benue from participating in normal activities.

He strongly expressed his refusal to forgive anyone or group of individuals insisting on and enforcing sit-at-home, viewing such actions as indirect attempts to work against his release.

The warning from Kanu comes amid tensions and uncertainties surrounding the southeast region, with concerns raised about the impact of the prolonged sit-at-home directives on the socio-economic activities of the area.

As Nigerians await further developments on the situation, the focus remains on Kanu’s detainment and his plans for the Economic Empowerment Day once he regains his freedom.

Authorities and the public closely watch for any unauthorized use of Kanu’s name for fundraising activities, as the issue continues to draw national attention and discussions about the path towards resolution and unity.
