Abia REC in DSS custody
Prof. Uzochukwu Chijioke, the Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), was reportedly detained by the Department of State Security (DSS) in Umuahia, the state capital, on Sunday.
Reports Making rounds claims that, Chijioke was allegedly arrested by a security agency for his alleged role in the delay of election materials to various polling wards and units.

According to reports, he was arrested on Sunday morning.
Instead of the REC, the administrative secretary of the commission, Celestine Oha, addressed the media.
When contacted, Bamidele Oyetunji, the INEC spokesperson, denied the arrest of the state INEC director but said he was asked to step aside.
When asked why the REC was asked to resign, Oyetunji declined to elaborate.
