JUST IN: Missing former ASUU chairman found in Turkey

Dipo Fasina, a former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who was previously reported missing, has been located in Turkey.

Referred to as ‘Jingo,’ the former ASUU leader had been unaccounted for since Saturday, July 1st.

According to a tweet from The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Sunday, Fasina was found at the airport and is expected to return to Nigeria on Monday.

NIDCOM also expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s High Commission in Turkey for their collaborative efforts in locating the scholar.

In a statement, NIDCOM stated that they, along with the Nigerian High Commission in Turkey, have successfully located Prof Fasina, who had been missing for a few days at Istanbul Airport while in transit.

The 76-year-old Mr. Fasina was on his way to Algeria when he reportedly missed his connecting flight in Istanbul, Turkey.

NIDCOM expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey for swiftly dispatching officials to physically locate him amidst the bustling and extensive Istanbul Airport.
