Renowned music executive, Kenny Ogungbe, widely known as Keke, has successfully completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme at the age of 53. The founder of Kennis Music shared photos from his Passing Out Parade (POP) on Thursday, sparking viral reactions on social media.

Taking to his Instagram page, the distinguished broadcaster expressed, “NYSC graduation/POP today. Lagos/12C graduation day. To God be the glory.” Kenny Ogungbe participated in the Batch C Stream of the National Service and successfully concluded the exercise on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

The news of his NYSC service completion has triggered a flurry of public reactions, especially on social media platforms. Some were surprised to discover that the 53-year-old music mogul had once been a Youth Corps member, while others began speculating about the possibility of his entry into politics.

As per the NYSC Act, all graduates under the age of 30 are mandated to partake in the one-year compulsory national service scheme. Speculation began circulating that Baba Wan, as he is affectionately called, may be gearing up to meet the eligibility criteria for a potential run in the 2027 general election. Kenny Ogungbe has not yet addressed the speculations regarding his potential political aspirations. Instead, his youthful appearance in the NYSC uniform amused many fans and netizens.

Kenny Ogungbe is the founder and namesake of the renowned label Kennis Music and serves as the CEO alongside Dayo “D1” Adeneye. They are also the owners of Kennis 104.1 FM in Lagos.

In collaboration with Dayo Adeneye, also known as D1, Ogungbe hosted the music program AIT Jamz, which aired on AIT in the late 1990s (later becoming PrimeTime Jamz on NTA). Throughout his career, he has worked with, shaped the careers of, or discovered artists such as ‘The Remedies’ (launching the solo careers of both Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila), Sound Sultan, 2face Idibia (producing his first two solo albums), and Oritse Femi, among others.

In 2012, Ogungbe was appointed Managing Director of Raypower FM and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at DAAR Communications Plc, owners of Raypower FMs and AIT.
