Former Minister of State for Defence, , has expressed concern over what he sees as a growing trend of laziness among Nigerians, with many opting for easy money instead of hard work.

 

Obanikoro lamented that the “get-rich-quick” mentality is detrimental to the country’s progress, emphasizing that he himself had taken on various menial jobs while growing up.

“The ‘I want to get rich overnight syndrome’ is killing Nigeria,” Obanikoro remarked, underscoring the need for a shift in mindset towards hard work.

 

Speaking at the 10th Ramadan Lecture of Anwar-ul Islam College, Agege Old Students’ Association (ACAOSA) in Lagos, the former Ambassador to Ghana stressed the importance of addressing economic insecurity in Nigeria.

He condemned the recent killing of soldiers in , Delta State, calling for swift and decisive action against the perpetrators.

“We must make an example of them that nobody dare do that again,” Obanikoro asserted, advocating for a deterrent to such acts of violence.
