Zamfara Govt Robbed My Houses, Stole Cars, Hijabs, Stoves – Matawalle break silence on house raid
Former Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle has accused the state government of robbing his homes and seizing his personal belongings.
On Friday, the Zamfara State Government, led by Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed that forty vehicles were seized from two houses belonging to Matawalle in Gusau and Maradun.
However, in an interview with newsmen, Matawalle claimed that “stupidity” and “poverty” were to blame for the burglaries, stating that items including his wife’s hijab were stolen.
He stated, “I’ve never witnessed such an act of stupidity, where someone’s home is entered without permission, as if we were in a lawless nation.
“I am in Abuja, and nobody informed me that a court issued that order or invited me, so I declined to respond. All of my wives’ rooms in my Gusau home have been destroyed, and even their hijabs have been stolen. Stoves were loaded into a car and removed.

“Instead of addressing the problems in Zamfara, Dauda wants to create another crisis because he knows that I have my people and that they will not fold their hands.
“In my Maradun home, they took away all of the campaign vehicles that people gave us as contributions, including the vehicles I purchased in the United States before becoming governor, as you know I was a car salesman. I will not ask them to return the vehicles, as everyone is aware that I own automobiles.
“This is a robbery, they broke into all of my dwellings, and even stole my daughter’s wedding attire (Kayan Lefe).”
