However, Ojo Babatunde, the spokesperson of the returning officers, reported that Sunday Dekeri, a lawmaker representing Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, secured 25,384 votes, defeating Idahosa.

Okpebholo contested the results, asserting that he had won the election with over 6,000 votes.

As a result, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) declared the election inconclusive and ordered a supplementary primary to be conducted on Thursday. Uzodinma was replaced by Otu as the chairman.

In the rerun, Idahosa, who initially led in the first ballot with 4,483 votes, concluded with 6,541 votes.
