1) Over 1,262 Nigerian students have pleaded with the federal government to have them evacuated from the Republic of Sudan, where 330 people have died and 3,200 have been injured in a fierce military clash between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Force.

2) On Thursday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, denied having discussions with representatives of the Adamawa government about rigging the state’s special governorship election. The denial followed a report that INEC officials assigned to oversee the election made a nighttime visit to the state government building with the apparent intention of rigging the results in favour of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
