1. The trial of approximately 2,000 individuals affiliated with Boko Haram, who have been apprehended for their involvement in terrorist activities, is scheduled to commence. To handle this special trial, the Federal Government has enlisted the services of eight judges. The proceedings will take place in Kainji, Niger State, within a secure environment provided by Operation Safe Corridor, a specialized security outfit.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart from Abuja on Saturday, July 8, for Guinea-Bissau. He will attend the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

3. A Federal High Court in Kano has issued a restraining order against the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC). The court order prohibits the commission from summoning or harassing former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in relation to the alleged dollar bribery videos. Justice A.M. Liman granted this order on Friday following an ex-parte motion filed by the former governor.

4. In Bauchi State, a 21-year-old woman named Maimuna Suleiman has been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing her husband, Aliyu Mohammed. The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect is now in custody.

5. President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the establishment of a presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms. Taiwo Oyedele, Fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has been appointed as the chairman of this committee.

6. Mr. Bamishe Ajetunmobi, a suspected operator of a Ponzi scheme, has been remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) by a Federal High Court in Lagos. He faces charges of an alleged N7.5 billion fraud. Justice Chukwuejekwu Aneke ordered his remand pending the commencement of the trial, which has been adjourned until November 29.

7. The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by Ikie Aghwarianovwe, who sought the disqualification of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State. Aghwarianovwe alleged that the governor had provided false information about his academic qualification and date of birth to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Justice Adamu Jauro authored the lead judgment, which was read by Justice Emmanuel Agim on Friday.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to disregard any covert actions by external forces attempting to facilitate the takeover of the party in the state by former Governor Nyesom Wike. In an open letter to President Tinubu, dated July 6, the chapter expressed their concerns, which were made available to the press in Abuja on Friday.

9. The Nigerian Army has announced the successful rescue of 24 individuals who were kidnapped by bandits in Zamfara State. Troops from Operation Hadarin Daji engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle on Friday, resulting in the deaths of at least four persons.

10. A 44-year-old businessman named Amara Kennedy has been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for disseminating nude photos of his former partners. Kennedy was arrested on Friday in the Oshodi area of the state after one of his victims, Kester, agreed to meet him under the pretense of resolving their dispute.
