In response to a circulating video implicating security agencies in Wednesday’s tragic events in Mangu LGA of Plateau State, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) issued a statement on Thursday, refuting claims of collaboration and emphasizing the military’s commitment to its constitutional duty.
Brigadier Gen Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, dismissed the accusations made in the video and pledged to take action against any lawbreaker in Plateau killing without bias. He urged the public to support ongoing military operations aimed at restoring peace in troubled areas, emphasizing that the military remains neutral.

The DHQ specifically addressed a video by Reverend Timothy Daluk, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Mangu Chapter, labeling it as malicious and baseless. The plateau killing video alleged bias and collaboration by the military in the Mangu security situation.
Highlighting the events leading up to the curfew imposed on January 23, 2024, the DHQ stressed that troops of Operation Safe Haven were deployed professionally to enforce the curfew and prevent its escalation. The military’s efforts resulted in the arrest of criminals involved in looting and property destruction, along with the recovery of weapons.
Expressing deep concern over a religious leader spreading falsehoods about the military, the DHQ called for an end to such behavior. The statement warned that constitutional redress awaits those found spreading misinformation, irrespective of their societal status.
