The circumstances surrounding this distressing incident suggest a correlation between the mounting loan defaults and Sola Ogungbe’s decision to end his life. Concerns had arisen about his absence from the office in recent times, prompting the bank officials to contact his wife on Wednesday to inquire about his extended absence. Sadly, upon reaching their home, she discovered her husband’s lifeless body on the bedroom floor.
An anonymous bank official revealed that the deceased had not been actively attending the office, further adding to the sense of unease surrounding his well-being. A close friend of the late Sola Ogungbe expressed regret over his decision to resort to suicide, emphasizing that he should have confided in friends about his troubles.

The friend stated, “The rise in suicide cases is deeply concerning. Sola made a grave mistake by ending his own life due to debt. If he had shared his issues with his friends, perhaps someone could have come to his aid. We all face challenges, but our ability to survive often lies in our communal living and friendships. Share your problems with others; you never know who might be able to help you.”
The body of the deceased has since been transported to his hometown in Omuaran, Kwara State.
